It is WORRISOME.....
When a class teacher keeps complaining about our kids that they are not paying attention in class, this makes us to boggle around the kid and class situations.
When a class teacher keeps complaining about our kids that they are not paying attention in class, this makes us to boggle around the kid and class situations.
Why they are not paying attention and what are the factors that we have to fix
- Kids are talkative
- Kids get distracted easily
- Kids used to day dream
- Kids who sit next to a bullying kid get annoyed easily
- Kids don't keep attention when they search something
- Kids are playful because they are creative geniuses.
Never discourage a kid of being talkative. It is a nature's gift to them. Only few possess this. To acknowledge this point, I want to share findings from "Journal of School Psychology."
Findings from the journal says that the children who are shy and withdrawn behaviour which noted in the early preschool years may start out with the lowest academic skills and slowest gains in academic learning skills across the year.

WHY KIDS ARE DISTRACTED EASILY
NO WONDER.... Our Kids born between 2006 to 2010 and after 2010
It has been published in major leading journals that average attention span has dropped to eight seconds.
(Kids born between 1995-2010 - are Generation Z; Kids born after 2010 are Alpha Generation).
Alpha and Generation X will also interact for the first time with these technologies at much younger ages than any other generation.
If our kid is less than 5 year old we have a kid from "Alpha Generation" - Alpha kids will grow up with iPads in hand, never live without a smartphone, and have the ability to transfer a thought online in fraction of seconds.
We parents are dealing with most challenging generation of this era because some parents have kids from Generation Z and Generation Alpha.
Late Steve Jobs the man behind the iPad, iPhone once said to New York Times journalist that he strictly limited his children’s use of technology.
We have to take conscious effort towards our kids to be confident and successful. Mom and Dad should have a conversation with their kids about how we use the technologies. Don't let them think that we are not about stopping their use of the technology but using it in a smart way. So teach them to break up their screen time with other activities.

We have to teach them to meditate for few minutes every day.
To start with, ask the kid to close his eyes and observe sounds around him for few minutes once in a alternate day.
Gradually, you improve this activity by memory challenge - show different items which is arranged in a place. Give time to focus the objects for 1 minute then ask the child to remember the objects which he have seen.
Keeping this activities in practice for a couple of weeks, you can upgrade your child to practice meditation. Sitting quietly and keep their eyes closed, watching their breath will improve their attention in class.
Teach kids with the help of storytelling.

TEACHER SAYS DAYDREAMING COSTS.....
Many of us heard from teachers that our kid is daydreaming in class.
Why kids are daydreaming in class. Why this shifting is happening in their minds when the class keeps going.
On few occasions the child take the choice to daydream is...
It is just because the kid may find the class boring
If the student teacher ratio is not ideal the kid would daydream
Kid would daydream when they don't understand concepts
Shy and withdrawn kid would daydream
Daydreaming is not a crime.
Actually daydreaming make the kid more creative. Daydream will pursue their own thoughts and discover personal interests and gifts.
My piece of advice is Children should daydream. In their 7-hour classroom schedule, they tentatively get bored with the classroom routines and set ups. Daydream make the class moving to the kids and discover innovative ideas.
YOUR KID SITTING NEXT TO BULLYING KID
At younger age, kids emotions are not fully matured and they have a small world. When they get bullied by other kid in the class, they feel insecure and threatened by school surroundings.
They will show less interest in studies and soon they lose focus in the class.
Your little kid needs to be confident in his surroundings. Parents have to work and resolve these issues when they arise.
In this case, parenting needs to be done. Take the first step, have a conversation with the kid's parents who is bullying your kid in class. Some times they are not ready to have a conversation about this, if they don't agree with you. Take next step by changing his classroom seating.
IF EVERY STEP FAILS.....
TRY THIS OUT.
EASE HIS PAIN AND DISCOMFORT - Follow a daily ritual with your kid by starting a conversation about his school. By the time they reach home after school, they want to involve with activities they like the most, so they generally wont speak and they are not ready to talk about school.
As time goes, they develop a habit of speaking and feel secure when they discuss about good and not so good things.
He start to build confidence about himself and he gain his control over his surroundings.
Finally We Have To Conclude With
Searching something in their bag, this happens when the teacher is asking kids to write - they dig deeper into bag to get eraser or pencil if they lost some. Make them to arrange their school books in bags and train them to take help from teacher if they lost their stationary supplies in the class.
Train them to be assertive and bold when they tell their opinions.
This can be rehearsed at home by performing an Act - kind of drama play. Simply ask kids what would you do in your free time? Ask encouraging questions to them.
Ex: What you will do if you were a President?
What is the reason you give to perform better in sports/class?
Do you think Dinosaur really extinct? Stimulate their imagination
At every home, a promising adult needs to pay attention to kids and create an environment and give consistent exposure to a wide range of creative fields.
